oriental tri-tip steak

4 whole green onions
sliced
1 cup soy sauce
3 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp fresh ginger
chopped
4 cloves garlic
minced
2 lbs beef tri-tip
1 tsp sesame seeds
toasted

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl to create the marinade.

Trim the beef tri-tip of excess fat and place it inside a resealable plastic bag with oriental marinade. Seal and refrigerate the meat for several hours (up to 8).

Preheat grill. Remove beef tri-tip from marinade. Grill beef tri-tip over medium heat, turning occasionally for about 25 to 30 minutes depending on thickness of the cut.

When done, remove from grill and let rest for 5 minutes. Carve across the grain.

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve.
