The first few times I made this drink, I tried substituting Angostura bitters for the Peychaud bitters. It’s a completely different drink, and the drink is better with the Peychaud’s. Upon close inspection and taste test, Angostura bitters had distinct cinnamon notes, whereas Peychaud’s - stated in the simplest terms - tasted like cough medicine, which was strangely a better match for this cocktail.
