This is a really simple recipe that makes great use of leftover bread. We actually used to make sliced bread pizzas in college in the toaster oven, and to this day, we still make it a point to have pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese on hand just in case we need a quick meal. We'll sometimes make this for breakfast on the weekends.
1
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
2
Spread butter on the bread, then spread pizza sauce over the butter.
3
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce. Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and slightly browned. Rest for about 2 minutes before eating or else the hot cheese will burn the roof of your mouth.
4
If topping the pizza with the egg, fry the egg after you pull the french bread pizza out of the oven.
5
Top the pizza with egg and parsley. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
