hot cocoa from scratch

ingredients
all
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 1/2 cups dry milk powder
preferably full fat
1 tsp salt
finely ground
2 tsp cornstarch
1 pinch cayenne pepper
optional
warm milk or hot water
cold milk or cold water
marshmallows
cookware
I wanted to make hot chocolate for our daughter's camping trip, but wanted to make something a little more special, with hopefully less sugar, than premixed packets.
1
Sift all the dry ingredients into a large bowl. Whisk to combine and sift again.
2
For each serving, mix 2 tablespoons of the mix with 2 fluid ounces of hot water or milk. Or to prepare a pot, mix 2 cups of the mix with 4 cups hot water/milk.
3
If needed, add cold milk or water to cool the hot cocoa enough for children to enjoy. Top with marshmallows.
